Section 11 (s.11) of the Children Act (2004) places duties on a range of organisations, agencies, and individuals to ensure their functions, and any services that they contract out to others, are discharged having regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
The Care Act (2014) requires Local Authorities to set up Local Safeguarding Boards, the objective of which is to help and protect adults at risk of or experiencing neglect and/or abuse, by coordinating and ensuring the effectiveness of what each of its members does.
The Sheffield Children’s Safeguarding Partnership and Sheffield Adults Safeguarding Board jointly deliver the Section 11 audit which enables organisations to reflect on their safeguarding practice and assure themselves and the safeguarding partnerships that they meet the requirements of the relevant legislation.
