Holiday Activities and Food Programme - Summer 2021 - Information for Schools

The Holiday Activities with Food Programme (2021)

Across Sheffield there are seven Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) voluntary sector coordinators working hard to programme a full timetable of Summer Holiday Activities with Food for children eligible for free school meals.

Activities are ranging from football camps to swimming lessons, trips to the Peak, lots of Arts/ Craft/culture, cooking and lots more. Furthermore, a healthy nutritious meal/lunch will be provided at all activities. The HAF programme is a super opportunity for eligible young people to have a fun filled engaging summer!

It’s not too late to for your school to become involved, please contact your local VCF coordinator to discuss how you want to support the HAF programme and to discuss the provision that is being planned in your locality (FYI contact details below)

We will soon share the Sheffield Healthy Holidays website and our HAF activity booking system with you.  Our ask to you is that you share this information with all your free school meal eligible families, encouraging and supporting them to sign up & participate. Your locality coordinator will be able to provide information about activities being planned in your locality.  We want to ensure all eligible young people are aware of this very exciting HAF Summer Programme. More information to follow!

Reminder of what HAF is: Sheffield has been awarded £2.6m to deliver the Holiday Activities and Food programme in 2021/22.  This programme aims to provide enriching activities and good food to children who are eligible for free school meals during the school holidays.  Feedback from previous Healthy Holiday programmes is that schools play an integral part in identifying families that would benefit from activities, encouraging them to attend and in some cases delivering activities.

Please do let us know if you would like to discuss the HAF programme further. You can contact your local Locality Coordinator or The HAF Team on Hafprogramme2021@sheffield.gov.uk

Kind regards,
