Alternative Education Providers (SCC) Training

We are currently developing the training for Alternative Education Providers supported by Sheffield City Council (AEP SCC). Further details are below.

  • Basic Safeguarding Children in Education Training:

We run face to face courses specifically for staff working with the AEP SCC. New training will be advertised here soon and an email will be sent to the Designated Safeguarding Lead at the setting letting them know.

  • Advanced Initial/Refresher Safeguarding Children in Education Training:

Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputies with an AEP SCC should continue to book places on the courses at Moorfoot which run for all education settings including schools and colleges, for more information follow this link: Training for Education Settings

  • Online-Safety Coordinators (AEP SCC) Training:

We are holding  2 one-day bespoke courses for the SSCB required Online-Safety Coordinator role for an AEP SCC. The person in this role must be a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy (or they must complete this 2-day training as soon as possible - for more information go to Training for Education Settings). They must have a level of 'child assessment' in their job description. They must also have completed the Basic Safeguarding Children in Education Training from Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board (either as a full day at at Moorfoot or two twilights at Crookesmoor) in the last 3 years.

The course will introduce the Coordinator to their role to promote awareness & commitment for online-safety; create, maintain & review online-safety policies & procedures; monitor, report & communicate with students & staff about issues, guidance & legislation, and liaise with the Local Authority, Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board & other agencies as appropriate.

The Online-Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all pupils & staff receive regular in-house online-safety training; online-safety is embedded across the education provided by the setting and that all staff know what to do if an online-safeguarding incident occurs.
