National Alerts System - hidden phone risk
Victims of domestic abuse who have a secret phone can switch off the government’s new emergency alert system. The NHS along with some police forces and charities recommend sharing this information.
Please cascade within your agency to anyone working with people who are subject, or vulnerable, to domestic abuse.
On Sunday, April 23rd, all 4G and 5G compatible phones will receive a test message on the system which will include a 10 second alarm and vibration.
Even if a phone is set to silent it will still go off, so please see and share guidance on how to disable the alerts.
