Multi-agency - Working with Resistance and Hostility in Families
Different families respond to professionals in different ways. From time to time all agencies will come into contact with families who deflect attention from improving outcomes for their child or adult at risk, or who are more obviously reluctant, resistant, or hostile toward agency approaches.
This half day course emphasises practical approaches to support practitioners to engage families and to offer appropriate challenge where required.
Prior to attendance attendees should:
- complete a basic introduction to safeguarding course either in their own agency or the Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership e-learning Safeguarding Children
- attend an Introduction to Safeguarding Adults course (advisable) where possible either in their own agency or via the Sheffield Adult Safeguarding Partnership here
- have attended or booked onto a Trauma Informed Practice workshop here to supplement this course. Attendance can be before or after this training.
Applications are welcome from ALL practitioners working with children and families in Sheffield. The course is free to all staff working for Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership partner agencies or other not for profit organisations.
