Safeguarding Workshop - Domestic Abuse: Young People's experience in their Relationships
Learn how to spot and respond to domestic abuse in young people’s relationships. This 2 hour session from IDAS explores the risks, indicators and impacts of abuse in adolescent relationships and outlines the support routes available, including referral pathways through Children’s Services and specialist youth services. Perfect for anyone working with teens or supporting families.
The session will cover:
- Key risks and vulnerabilities specific to adolescents, including early coercive control, peer pressure, social media dynamics and grooming.
- Signs and indicators and how to spot subtle clues.
- How domestic abuse impacts young people’s wellbeing, behaviour, education and relationships.
- Using the Young Person’s DASH risk assessment.
- How to assess risk holistically, using professional judgement alongside structured tools.
