Local Prevent Training for South Yorkshire School Leaders

This course is suitable for Headteachers, Safeguarding Leads and Governors in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham

The Counter Terrorism & Security Act 2015 places a statutory duty on schools and other public bodies to safeguard susceptible individuals from radicalisation.  It is important that education settings across all phases understand their Prevent responsibilities and are aware of the current local and national context.

This session will focus on current risks, local Safeguarding processes, resources available to education settings, and advice from Ofsted.  This session is aimed at both new and existing leaders.  Section 117 of the Prevent Duty Guidance states, “It is recommended that those with Prevent-specific responsibilities refresh their training at least every two years, enabling them to support others on Prevent matters and update them on relevant issues.”
