Education Settings - Safeguarding Under 5's in Schools 2024-25

For the academic year 2024-25 the Safeguarding Under 5's in Schools training courses will be delivered online.

This training is ONLY for Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputies (DSL/D's) and Foundation Stage Leads in schools with pupils who are under 5 years old.  It may also be beneficial for Headteachers of settings with pupils under 5 years old to attend.

This course must be attended by the Foundation Stage Lead who should ideally also be fully trained as a DSL/D.

The training will provide an understanding of the mandatory safeguarding and welfare requirements in the EYFS Framework 2021.

The EYFS Statutory Framework was updated in September 2021 and our Safeguarding Under 5s in Schools course was updated and launched in October 2021.  If this course has been attended since October 2021 it does not need to be repeated.

The course is free for maintained schools and academies.  There is a charge for 'free' and independent school staff attending.

Attendance must be prioritised.  Non-attendance without prior cancellation or agreement will be charged if it is not in line with our charging policy.  You can cancel your place via the training booking system and please also let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.

To contact us about training telephone 0114 2734530 or email safeguardingchildrentraining@sheffield.gov.uk

You must register or login to check availability on all course dates.

**Places are limited to 3 per school per course.  Additional places booked will be cancelled and you will be asked to move to another date.**

If for some reason you are no longer able to attend please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else.
