Education Settings - Online Safety: Emerging Themes 2024-25
KEY INFORMATION TO READ BEFORE YOU BOOK
These sessions are for anyone who as booked on to the Online Safety: Whole School Approach training for 2024-25 and who did not complete Advanced Initial Training or Advanced Refresher Training during last academic year 23/24.
Online Safety in Schools and Colleges is the responsibility of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
The DSL may delegate the day-to-day leadership of online safety to fully trained Designated Safeguarding Deputy and that person is known as the Online Safety Coordinator.
Additionally, schools may delegate the T&L leadership of online safety to an Online Safety Curriculum Coordinator. This person must be supported in the role by a DSL/DSD who is also fully trained in Online Safety.
This training is compulsory for DSLs/Online Safety Coordinators and Online Safety Curriculum Coordinators who are attending the Online Safety: Whole school Approach 1 day course. The DSD like the DSL does not need to come if they attended advanced initial or advanced refresher last year.
The content of the Emerging Themes course is covered in the DSL Advanced Initial Training and was the subject of part for the Advanced Refresher training last academic year we are keen to avoid duplication.
The aim of this session is to ensure that delegates have a full knowledge of how young people in Sheffield are using the online space and how they compare to young people nationally. It will look at key piece of research and will examine all the main themes that are essential to safeguarding children online. It will also look at how this links to Keeping Children Safe in Education and will also look at research around keeping young people with SEND and other additional needs safe online.
Attendance must be prioritised. Non-attendance without prior cancellation or agreement will be charged if it is not in line with our charging policy. You can cancel your place via the training booking system and please also let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.
