Education Settings - Methods and Approaches to Exploring Risk with Young People
Young people are being exposed to increasing risk within their environments that can impact upon them and their development in detrimental ways that are being normalised within their networks. Whether it is pressure from peer groups, violence or disinformation, the impact is seen in increasing anxiety among our young people.
In order to effectively help young people to explore and understand risk they may be exposed to; we need to enable them to more widely explore their experiences and situation and how this may increase their vulnerability to risk from outside of the home. Recognising that the ‘presenting issue’ may not be the whole story and allowing young people to explore their wider influences and issues leads to much more effective interventions that support the whole person.
This training aims to explore how young people learn and what may impact their ability to engage at any particular time. Explore our role as practitioners and provide tools and resources for enabling us to have conversations with young people that allow them to explore and communicate their experiences and what their support needs are.
