Education Settings - Governor Safeguarding Training 2024-25

For the academic year 2024-25 the Governor Safeguarding training courses will be delivered online.

This training is required for the identified trustee or member of a governing body (or equivalent) with responsibility for safeguarding and is also useful for Headteachers.  It is not the same as the 'whole-school' Basic Safeguarding Children in Education Training, although Governors are welcome to attend this within their school.

The training incorporates local and national guidance to discuss:

- Definitions of safeguarding and the safeguarding role of Governing Bodies in education settings
- Safeguarding policies and procedures in education settings
- Safer schools, safer recruitment and allegations against staff
- Requirements for staff safeguarding training
- Ofsted Inspections (safeguarding focus)
- The Safeguarding Annual Audit from Headteachers

The course is free for maintained schools and academies.  There is a charge for 'free' and independent school staff attending.

Attendance must be prioritised.  Non-attendance without prior cancellation or agreement will be charged if it is not in line with our charging policy.  You can cancel your place via the training booking system and please also let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.
